Members 13 and older are issued membership ID tags when joining the Y. Your membership tag is your key to The Family YMCA of Southeast Mississippi. We ask that you present your YMCA ID to Member Service when you enter either facility. If you cannot locate your YMCA ID, you will be required to produce another picture ID (driver's license or school ID with photo, etc.) to enter the facility. However, this is only a temporary means to enter. If your YMCA ID is not located in a reasonable amount of time, you will be required to purchase another YMCA ID for $5.
Methods of Payment: You can pay for your membership in one of two ways:
- Bank Draft - A continuous membership that does not expire. This convenient method consists of a once per month draft on your checking account on the 1st or 15th of each month. Some banks will permit a draft from a savings account.
- Annual Payment - Dues may be paid annually and each year thereafter. Payment may be made with cash, check or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express).
Joining Fees: Joining fees are used to purchase new equipment and facility enhancement. The joining fee is a one-time fee provided your membership remains current. Should your membership payment lapse more than 30-days; a reactivation fee will be charged. You can upgrade a current membership to another category without paying an additional joining fee.
Fees: The YMCA reserves the right to change membership fees with 30 days written notice to members. A fee will be charged for all returned checks and bank drafts.
Corporate Memberships: Dues are paid through payroll deduction. Corporate memberships are available to companies who have established a membership account and who agree to payroll deduct your monthly dues submitting the fees once a month to the Y. There are qualifying guidelines for corporate memberships. For information contact the Membership Director at 601-583-4000.
Financial Assistance: One of our goals at the YMCA is not to exclude anyone because they cannot afford the fee. We offer financial assistance to individuals and families so that YMCA programs are accessible to every person in our community. Lives are impacted every day through YMCA community outreach, thanks to the generosity of the United Way of Southeast Mississippi, our members, donors to our annual fund-drive known as Partners With Youth and other fund raising activities.
Please see Member Service to pick up a financial assistance application. Return the completed forms with the required documents to Member Service and please allow up to two weeks for processing.
Membership Cancellation & Refund: Membership cancellation requires a written notice received by the 26th of the month before the month you wish to end your membership. The notice for both Ys can be mailed to 3719 Veterans Memorial Dr., Hattiesburg, MS 39401 or faxed to 601-584-8349. After receiving written notification, your bank draft or semi-annual, annual membership will be cancelled for the next month. If you cancel at your bank (for a bank draft membership) you must still notify the YMCA. Joining fees are non-refundable. After receiving written notification, annual or semi-annual members who cancel will be refunded any full month's fee remaining. Joining fees are non-refundable.
Membership Relocation: If you are moving to another city or state, submit your YMCA cancellation notice in writing by the 26th of the month prior to your move. We can provide you a letter with your membership information to present to the Y in your new location. However, YMCAs are independent associations. Our common bond is being a part of the YMCA of the USA. (Fees are not transferable to other cities.)
Suspended/Terminated/ Revoked Membership : The YMCA has the right to suspend or cancel a membership service if a member's behavior or language is judged to be in conflict with the welfare of other members or staff, or in conflict with the YMCA's purpose and values.
Any membership privilege that is revoked or suspended from one facility will result in suspension from all YMCA facilities.
Gift Certificates: Gift Certificates may be purchased for YMCA membership and programs at Member Service.
